Overview

Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is a rare genetic condition that can cause sudden, unpredictable swelling — and often, a lot of fear. If you or your child has been diagnosed with HAE, or you suspect it based on unexplained episodes, you’ve likely felt overwhelmed, anxious, and unsure where to turn.

At GAIN, we offer expert care for HAE with a clear focus: helping you gain control, reduce attacks, and live more freely — without fear of the next episode.

What is Hereditary Angioedema?

HAE is a rare disorder that causes episodes of severe swelling in different parts of the body, including the face, throat, abdomen, and extremities. These attacks are not caused by allergies and do not respond to antihistamines or steroids. HAE is typically inherited and related to a deficiency or dysfunction in C1-inhibitor, a protein that helps regulate inflammation and blood vessel permeability.
There are multiple types of HAE, and accurate diagnosis is essential for proper treatment.
