POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)

It’s not “just in your head.” Dizziness, fatigue, and heart racing on standing are real — and treatable with the right care.

Overview

Living with POTS can feel like your body is constantly malfunctioning — and no one can quite explain why. You may have been passed from specialist to specialist, told your symptoms are “normal,” or misdiagnosed with anxiety. Meanwhile, you still can’t stand up without your heart racing, your head spinning, or your energy crashing.

At GAIN, we understand how complex and misunderstood POTS can be. We see the full picture — and we treat it with expertise, compassion, and a real plan.

What is POTS?

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) is a form of dysautonomia — a condition that affects how the autonomic nervous system regulates involuntary functions like heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion.

In POTS, when you go from lying or sitting to standing, your heart rate increases significantly (often 30+ bpm in adults) without a corresponding drop in blood pressure. This can lead to a range of symptoms that disrupt daily life — but are often overlooked in standard medical settings.

POTS often coexists with conditions like MCAS, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), or Long COVID.
